Books, Books & More Books
Based in Haywards Boon Books are suppliers of a wide and varied range of discounted, remaindered and
overstocked books. The selection includes Fiction, Non-Fiction and a large range of Childrens Books,
as well as Audiobooks on CD – all at amazing prices. The company began in 1996 and started out in the South London area, as both a wholesaler and retailer of books. This gave Managing Director, Tim Boon, a
great insight into how the trade side of the book industry worked. After standing on many markets
and visiting numerous fairs, it gave him a clear idea of what traders are looking for from their wholesalers. The knowledge he gained helped develop the wholesale side of the business and enhanced the ability of Boon Books to cater to the needs of the smaller trader Eventually deciding to just focus
two floors. The layout has
been specifically designed for
customers visiting Boon Books.
Upon arrival customers are
given a trolley to take around
the aisles and make their own
selection of stock straight from the shelves. With over 1.5
million books spread across over 7000 different titles there is
something for everyone - it is defi nitely worth a personal visit.
Their hugely varied selection of books are spread across four
different categories - Adult Fiction, Adult Non-Fiction, Children’s
Fiction and Children’s Non-Fiction. These include:
• Action Adventure
• Crime & Thriller
• Poetry & Theatre
• Sci-Fi & Horror
• Animal & Natural History
• Art & Photography
• Film, TV & Education
• Board Books
• Comic & Graphic Novels
• Picture Flats
• Pop-Up & Flap Books
• Life Advice
• Teaching Books
• Audio Books on CD
• Plus many more
Their customers include some of the UK’s best known high
street names, as well as numerous companies from every
continent around the world. However, their continual emphasis
is on the new and smaller trader. This is why they maintain a
minimum order which is the lowest in the bargain book trade.
It is also the reason they have made the stocking of books of
local interest something of a speciality. People love to know
about their local area and books on local history, local people
& local sports teams are always guaranteed to sell particularly
Helping the small trader to make a great profi t is also why
Boon Books have developed their totally unique “Pallet Build”
service. From a specially selected list of their stock (currently
over 800 different titles!) customers can put together their
own pallet of books. The pallet must be at least 1,000 books
(in quantities of at least 5 per title), but the books only cost
20p each. That’s 1,000 books for only £200 – and with FREE
delivery as well. New titles are added to the list every week.
Most of these books should sell comfortably for £1 or more,
but even at 50p a book the trader can more than double their
money. There is an added incentive to visit Boon Books in person, as any customers who go and pick their orders at the warehouse and take the stock away with them receive a 10% discount. If this isn’t possible, the books can be sent on after they have made their selection, with free carriage, but no extra discount. Boon Books is open Monday – Friday from 9.00am to 17.00pm, however they can often arrange for someone to be there earlier or later if given advance notice. Customers are requested to book an appointment before visiting the warehouse.
For those who cannot visit Boon Books in person, you can visit and purchase from their website at
www.boonbooks.com. The website is constantly being updated with new stock, with hundreds of new books every month. So, in the unlikely event that you cannot find what you are looking for on your first visit, it is definitely worth checking the site again!
In their determination to help the small trader, Boon Books has a very low order cost of just £60.00 in order to qualify for FREE delivery (any orders lower than this have a delivery charge of £5.00). This makes it ideal for Market Traders, offering a low risk opportunity to anyone wanting to set up at a Market as a book seller, or even a trader who wants to diversify into selling books alongside their other products. It helps traders take on stock without having to spend too much money.
Most payment options are available at Boon Books, including Credit/Debit Cards, cash, cheque or direct payment into the company’s bank account. If you have any further questions or queries then please do not hesitate to contact their dedicated sales team on 01444 411111, email email@example.com or go to their website www.boonbooks.com.
Managing Director, Tim Boon, told MTN, “We’re constantly looking for ideas to help our smaller customers not only get started, not only survive, but to grow bigger. We already deal with some pretty big customers worldwide, but we never forget that not only our customers, but we ourselves started out in a small way and that the best way for us to grow is to help our customers succeed. It’s purely selfish of us, but we want our customers to make money! If they weren’t happy with our service, then they wouldn’t keep on coming back, so we have to be the best that we can be.”
