Are you a budding entrepreneur who could take advantage of a special offer at Spilsby, Horncastle or Louth market this summer? 

Starting during Love Your Local Markets Fortnight (May 13-27) East Lindsey District Council will offer up to 12 budding entrepreneurs the chance to benefit from free Public Liability Insurance for 12 market days each and 12 market days’ rent for the cost of 10.

The cost of the 12 markets will be £150 which must be paid upfront. The trader will also benefit from free Public Liability Insurance during this time. After this period the trader will have to obtain their own PLI to carry on trading.

The Council is looking for up to 4 new traders for each of its markets in Spilsby, Horncastle and Louth.

Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Councillor Steve O’Dare, said;
If you have a business idea that you would like to trial, a market stall could be a fantastic way to test the water and see if people like your products for a relatively small start up cost. 

“Whatever you want to sell, whether it be food, handmade items or something totally new and innovative, the District’s markets are a great way to meet potential customers and receive some great feedback to help in shaping your business. 

“Over the years we have seen numerous market traders progress to a shop premises after a successful start trading on markets. There is no long-term contract or overheads associated with a traditional shop premises so you really have nothing to lose.” 

A panel made up of Markets Manager Esther Belton, Councillor O’Dare and a member of the Communications Team will select up to 12 applicants who will start trading during Love Your Local Markets Fortnight.
