Part of Northampton Market Square is set to be turned into a beach once again this summer.

The giant sand pit, complete with deck chairs and buckets and spades, will be unveiled on Tuesday 28 July and activities will include a penny arcade, boating lake, children’s rides, games and stalls.

The attraction will be open from 10am until 4pm, seven days a week throughout the summer until Saturday 5 September, weather permitting.

Councillor Brandon Eldred, Northampton Borough Council cabinet member for community engagement, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Northampton’s very own beach back for the fourth year running. We hope that as many people as possible will take advantage of the free parking in the town and come along to enjoy a taste of the seaside and all that the market has to offer.”
