The UK’s Largest Outdoor Sunday Market

Blackbushe Sunday Market is in a prime location alongside the A30 near Camberley in Surrey and just a stone’s throw from the M3 motorway.

The Market now stands on a site that was the original Blackbushe Airfield. The Sunday Market has been on the site for over 35 years and has been managed and run by Market Manager, Tim Vaughan and his father Brian for the last 27 years. Tim, Brian and their team have been instrumental in developing and expanding the Market to make it the huge success it is today.

Improvements have included tarmacking the entire 44 acre site, including car parks, ensuring the whole site is hard standing, erecting purpose built customer and staff toilet blocks with disabled facilities and installing lighting. As well as providing its own ATM cash machines located next to the Market office and both entrances for the convenience of customers.

Customers often comment on the sheer size of the Market comparing it to a small town and community. This feeling is enhanced by the professionalism and personal touches of it being run like a family business. This approach is well received by the traders I spoke to.

Blackbushe Market has a finely tuned operation in place with a team of staff employed to maintain it like clockwork 12 months of the year ensuring everything runs smoothly on market days.

The size of the site was demonstrated to me by the fact that the team use mini motor bikes and a golf buggy to cover the huge site quickly on market days, allowing them to be on call at all times to respond to traders and customer’s needs. The market car parks with capacity for over 10,000 cars are marshalled on site with military precision.

The Market continually maintains its customer focus and the management team has recently restructured the Market layout giving every trader a prime pitch with parking behind their stalls and tie down rings. Traders at Blackbushe get a 12ft frontage position that is 10ft deep and fully tarmacked. The Market attracts large numbers of customers every week with thousands attending each Sunday.

There is always a mix of regular and new customers coming through the gates, come rain or shine, to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the Market and the friendly banter amongst the traders.

Blackbushe Market 2Blackbushe Sunday Market is looking forward to a busy and exciting summer season, with a number of events being held for the rest of the year. They recently had a successful Jubilee Celebration and are now looking forward to the August Bank Holiday fun day, with marching bands, fun fair rides and much more.

The Market is currently open to all commodities of traders at a cost of £53.00 for a 12ft pitch. You can either just turn up on the day at 6.00am to be allocated your position, or you can call in advance to pre-book.
