The latest accolade awarded to Bury Market has come from the world’s largest travel site TripAdvisor.

It has given the town’s famous market a Certificate of Excellence for 2015 after the tourist attraction achieved a guest rating of 4.5 from over 244 reviews, putting it among the very best venues on the travel site.

Print_Logo_COE2015_UKTripAdvisor say this is a testament to the high standards on the market, and say the award “is given only to the most exceptional performers in TripAdvisor’s global business community” and “is a significant achievement deserving of recognition from both travellers and staff”.

Councillor Sandra Walmsley, cabinet member for resource and regulation, said:
“We are delighted that so many visitors have given such positive feedback via TripAdvisor and we hope that that will encourage many more people to come to Bury and enjoy our unique Market’s atmosphere for themselves.”

One of the themes repeatedly raised in the reviews is the sheer choice, variety and value on offer from the Market, one recent reviewer who visited in June this year said:  “The market is great”  ‘I have become a regular of Bury market over the last few years and I think that the variety and value is unbeatable. The meat deals are great, the discount sweets and chocolate stall has some great bargains and I try to spend as much as I can with the local traders and less with the national chains. When it is a sunny day I love walking around trying the different foods (Chinese firecracker sausages are my fave) and enjoying watching the many locals and visitors. Having lived in other towns I really appreciate how good Bury market is.’

Andrew Heyes, Bury Market’s Manager said:
“The reviews really are a testament to our Traders and what a good job they do in providing a fantastic shopper experience for all r who come to the Market. On their behalf I would just like to thank those who have taken their time to put their comments on TripAdvisor and bring our Trader’s good work to the attention of a wider audience”
