Make sure that good practice is rewarded by casting your votes in the
Oscars of the Market Place, says MTN editor, Dave Phillips

YOU may have noticed that there is a very important election coming up — one in which it is vital that you cast your votes in order to secure a bright future for our industry.

No, I’m not talking about THAT general election on December 12.
The one I have in mind is far more important than a lot of silly squabbling revolving around who goes to Westminster.
I’m talking about making sure you take part in the ballot for the Oscars of the market industry — the Great British Market Awards 2020.

Entries are now open for these awards, which are organised by NABMA. They are looking for nominations of the best of British Markets.

Who wins? You decide!

That’s why it’s important that you cast your votes. We want to see the hard-working and imaginative beacons of our industry to get the recognition they deserve.

“Join with us and help promote and celebrate the excellent markets that can be found in our cities, towns and local communities,” says NABMA.

“This competition is the biggest in the markets industry and NABMA is indebted to the generous sponsorship of Blachere Illuminations, the leading commercial Christmas lighting and decorations specialists in the UK.”

Voting forms can be downloaded from the NABMA website: www.nabma.com.

You will be nominating your choices for the following categories:

• Best Large Indoor Market

• Best Small Indoor Market

• Best Large Outdoor Market

• Best Small Outdoor Market

• Best Community / Parish Market

• Best Large Speciality Market

• Best Small Speciality Market

• Best Wholesale Market

• Best Food Market

• Best Market Attraction

Entries for most categories close on November 29, so hurry! (Nominations for Best Speciality and Best Market Attraction can be made until December 31, so that this year’s Christmas Markets can be entered.)

If you require technical assistance, or have any questions, you can email support@nabma.com.

Winners will be announced at NABMA’s One Day Conference on January 30 at The Council House, Birmingham
(see previous post).
