Groupe Geraud launches new-look Grays Market partnership
Grays Market welcomes the arrival of Groupe Geraud to assist in their plan to become Essex’s new shopping destination
Europe’s largest private operator of local authority markets, Groupe Geraud, has undertaken its latest town centre market venture in Grays Market, Essex. They have joined forces with the local council and together have created a joint vision for Grays market to become the bold new focal point for Grays Town Centre.
Following on from the arrival of the Lakeside Shopping Centre, the town centre market has grown in size and has become an integral part of the Grays community. The market now offers three trade days: a general market on Friday, Saturday and Monday. Going forward, trading days may alter to include Thursday trading.
Along with supporting local trade, the market offers an alternative shopping experience to the surrounding high street. Shoppers can browse through a selection of stalls selling unique gifts and artisan foods – a welcome change of pace to the usual retail day.
The local council is looking to establish the market further within the community and it is hoped that with the Groupe Geraud partnership, which will officially begin on 22nd July, the market’s popularity will continue to build momentum and interest exciting new traders.
The new-look market hopes to attract up and coming traders from Grays’ new local college which opened in 2014. The market aims to inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs to get involved in their local community and in turn, will encourage independent trade and commerce in their town.
The market is well served by bus and rail services with the railway station situated at the top end of the High Street. The relaunch of the market is expected to bring about an increase of footfall, and will also see the introduction of an International Street Market. Pitch fees are from just £35.00.
Matt Steele, National Operations Manager of Geraud UK said: “We are delighted to be going into partnership with Grays town council.
“Grays is a great town and its market is already extremely popular, so we’re looking forward to providing an additional support in encouraging market trade and traders.”
