At the heart of the borough resides Brixton Market; which is an internationally renowned brand as well as a much loved local amenity and a distinct backdrop for social interaction.
The market’s origins can be traced back to the mid 1800’s, when the market was located in Atlantic Road. A few years later, the market expanded into Brixton Station Road and Electric Avenue (so named as it was the first street in the UK to be illuminated by electric street lighting).
Lambeth Council’s Enforcement & Business Compliance Section, seek to further enhance the variety of goods and services offered in its markets, by extending an invitation to become a member of our Street Trading Community. We welcome applications from budding entrepreneurs as well as experienced traders.
