Event to explain exciting future for market

An event is to be held to showcase some of the exciting plans for the £2.7m redevelopment of Scarborough Market.

On Tuesday 22nd March in an open event at the market, people will get the chance to see what is being planned for the building.

There will be a display of plans and artists’ impressions as well as a first look at proposed new branding and marketing ideas.

The idea is to get the public’s views on what is proposed before work gets under way on the transformation.

Some consultation has already been held, with people saying they want to see a warm and welcoming market, offering something unique and good value for money.

Councillor Bill Chatt, Scarborough Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Public Health and Housing, said:This event is an opportunity for people to see where we are with the market redevelopment and to give us their feedback on what we are proposing.

We have been very encouraged by the feedback we have had so far during the consultations and this is the next step. We hope lots of people will come along and see the exciting things we have in mind to transform their market for the future.

The open event will start at 3.30pm in the main market hall.
